Lucknow: Lucknow Falcons have finally broken the losing streak in the UP T20 Cricket League. In their third match of the season, Lucknow Falcons defeated Gorakhpur Lions by 33 runs to register their first win.
Lucknow scored a mammoth total of 172 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Kritagya Singh played a blistering innings of 69 runs (31 balls, 3 fours, 7 sixes) and became the Man of the Match. Chasing a big target at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Gorakhpur Lions got into trouble when the first three wickets fell for a score of just 17 runs.
Opener Abhishek Goswami could not open the account while Dhruv Jurel also got out after scoring just one run. The difficulties increased further when Akshdeep Nath was also out after scoring 12 runs.
Ayush Juyal, who came out to bat as an impact player, scored 60 runs (44 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) and Siddharth Yadav scored 39 runs to make a partnership of 100 runs for the team and the whole team was out for 139 runs in 18.1 overs.
For Lucknow, Vipraj Nigam took five wickets for 19 runs while Abhinandan Singh took three wickets for 30 runs. Lucknow batsmen enjoyed batting in bright sunshine and ended the drought of runs.
Apart from Kritagya, opener Abhay Pratap scored 27, Priyam Garg 23 and Sameer Chaudhary also played an unbeaten innings of 26 runs to take the team to a huge score. Ankit Rajput and Vijay Yadav of Gorakhpur took two wickets each while Shivam took one wicket.
